This Feature Class contains polygon features that represent Master Planned Drainage Areas.

A Drainage Area is essentially a watershed area in which storm and nuisance water is collected then directed to a corresponding Ponding Basin through a network of Inlets, Storm Drain Pipelines, and Outfalls.

Typicallythere is one Ponding Basin per Drainage Area, and that Basin serves all the parcels and public right of ways (streets) within the Drainage Area.

This Feature Class participates in the “Drainage” Topology, where it shares common geometry with Inlet Boundaries, Landuse Boundaries and Basins. A Topology is a collection of rules that, when coupled with a set of editing tools, enables GIS to more accurately represent geometric relationships.

The Drngbndy Feature Class is stored within a Geodatabase (stores a collection of geographic datasets) which is housed on the Districts GIS server.

In addition to storing the Drainage Area geometric shape, this Feature Class also stores “Attribute” information related to the planning and maintenance of the Drngbndy Feature Class.
